This verse stood out to me because we always hear that we have to be alert because the enemy of our souls is out to get us. He wants to see us fail; "the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10). But he will not come at you with a spear in hand shouting "I'm coming to kill you", instead he appeals to our senses making things seem "good", "pleasing" and "desirable". We have to be strong in our faith and know what we are up against so that we can win these battles. What may seem good and pleasing will in turn lead to our destruction. These desires and things the world has to offer are all temporary pleasures. Their road only leads to eternal condemnation. It's Not Worth It. But following Jesus? That's Worth It!!

Teenage Dream

 So, I was looking at the lyrics of this song while listening to it (on someone's profile) and I'm thinking mmm this is a catchy song ok. But I like to look at the lyrics so what is it really saying?

My heart stops when you look at me... aww how sweet.. its a love song?

Haa...not. Talk about deception.

So I'm Christian and as are some of the people I know who listen to this song. Its catchy I must admit but we must be cautious because really this is the same person who had the song "I kissed a girl". Umm, last I heard the Bible doesnt coincide with homosexuality. (Eph. 5:31) The world is going from bad to worst and well through catchy songs they are trying to influence us and turn us from our values. We must be strong in what we believe and be careful what we are listening to because even though it may seem like its just some song, its not a big deal. Be careful because slowly but surely its influencing you and delivering a perverse message.

This song "Teenage Dream" is really talking about sex. About having sex. Growing up Christian you hear a lot of no sex before marriage and that is engraved in our minds and we think oh yeah, I wont do that I know its wrong and what not yet this song is promoting sex and without realizing it you're singing along to it.

So, now lets analyze the song..

Lets start with the message as a whole.. it is said to be talking about love. This whole teenage dream it speaks of, is not the life of being a teenager and what not. When one is young we think we are in love, and we go through all that gushiness of having crushes and dating, etc. (the real definition of love is in 1 Cor. 13:4-13)

We are constantly searching for that "missing puzzle piece" thinking that if we find "The ONE" we will finally feel complete and it will be happily ever after. The song talks about living the teenage dream because shes living in some fantasy thinking she has found her missing puzzle piece.

But seriously ladies, one boy will not fill you inside. I must say stop searching. Instead ask God to show you and wait. Waiting on God is better and let me tell you, you will save yourselve a lot of heartbreak. If you dont think God can help you out in the love department fyi He is the Creator of everything, including love and sex and so yes, HE is capable of finding your perfect match and writing the perfect love story for you. So now moving back to the lyrics

The second little paragraph where it says "You brought me to life"

Yes, you have all those butterflies and gushy feeling inside but it doesnt mean its love. It's infatuation. Dont mistake the two. A boy will not cause you to go from "dead" to alive.

And even though you might be happier and carefree when in a relationship, you cant put all that pressure on the person youre dating and expect them to bring you to life.

Next, the third paragraph says, "Let's go all the way tonight"

Loud and clear. Lets have sex.. Eh... say no. Love will never pressure you to compromise your values or violate your boundaries. Ladies your purity is the most precious thing you have that should be saved for your husband. God made it something beautiful and pure but now with all the corruption in the world, the enemy portrays it as something else. Dont fall into those lies and deceptions.

Love doesnt mean having sex.

"But among you there must not be a hint of sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity... because these are improper for God's holy people" -Ephesians 5:3

Side not, if your a teenager, youre a minor until 18-19. So.. most likely youre still living under the same roof as your parents.. The Bible says "Honor your mother and father"

SO.. "lets run away..."?? Err... wrong.

No,. if someone is asking you to run away with them.. secretly.. then its not good news. If someone is asking you to keep secrets from your parents 1. its not a good sign and 2. they dont respect you.

"Have NOTHING to do with the fruitLESS deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret." Ephesians 5:11-12

"Just one touch... Now baby I believe"

NO. There is no "just one" touch. A little something leads to more and more. You let him disrespect you and he will go all the way and full on disrespect you. Respect yourself first and don't be tricked into the lies that its okay for someone to be touching you. Your body is God's sanctuary. Don't let yourself be fooled that you have to "prove" your love by having to compromise your values.

"Got drunk on the beach.. and got a motel"

Well , "Dont get drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit" Ephesians 5:18

So... youre totally in love that you cant even be conscious??

More sex is being promoted and well the Bible speaks for itself, dont get drunk.

Also, "I'm Complete"

As I stated before, a boy will not complete you. He is not that missing puzzle piece. If you feel like something is missing inside of you its God. God is Love. God will fill you abundantly like you cant even imagine. With HIM your life is complete.!

So lastly, it says "let you put your hands on me in my skin tight jeans"

Well once again its saying its okay for someone to go around touching you because they "love" you.

Dont let yourself be fooled and fall for these lies.

You do  not have to allow for all this touching around.. its not love.

LOVE WILL NEVER PRESSURE YOU TO COMPROMISE YOUR VALUES OR VIOLATE YOUR BOUNDARIES..

"Dont be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey Him. Dont participate in the things these people do.  (6-7)... Imitate God in everything you do because you are His dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of CHRIST. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. (1-2)...So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise(15).
